The law for disbursal of stimulus check ( Economic Impacts Payment ) requires as a condition -possession of Social Security Number. So if a person is having only an ITIN and not SSN, he/she won’t receive EIP-1 or EIP-2. However, there is an exception to this rule that if two spouses file a joint tax return and either spouse is a member of the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the taxable year, is valid SSN of one spouse is enough for stimulus payment eligible for joint files i.e $24,00 for EIP-1 and $ 1200 for EIP-2.
