The Net Investment Income Tax is an additional tax @ 3.8% on certain net investment income of individuals, estates and trusts that have income above the statutory threshold amounts. NIIT is governed by section 1411 of the Internal Revenue Code. You can use our  niit calculator to see if it applies to your case.
